Friday, March 19th was a day I won't ever forget, because that is when I found out I was pregnant. Of course, I told Gavin immediately, and he was appropriately happy. I managed to otherwise keep it a secret all the way until Sunday, when I told my sister and swore her to secrecy. Gavin didn't want to tell anyone right away. So we waited... and waited... until Easter! When we told our families. The next day I had my first appointment, just with the nurse, got everything confirmed and blood work done, etc. She set up our first ultrasound for that Thursday!
For those, like me, who have no experience with ultrasounds... the big dark blob in the middle is my uterus, the greyish blob in it is the baby. The best part, in my opinion, was hearing the heartbeat. Also, she confirmed my guess of a due-date: November 23rd. That really made it seem... well, real! And since everything looked good, last weekend we started telling all our friends! Now it is no longer a secret (obviously), and that is nice. It is fun to be able to talk about it with friends and family, and not have all these questions and comments swirling around with no outlet!
I have been feeling pretty good and have not been sick, which is nice. I have been extremely tired, and have basically completely given up on making it to the pool in the mornings, but I've been trying to take the dogs for a walk most evenings. I've found that if I eat constantly all day, I rarely feel nauseous, although sometimes I do feel a bit dizzy or disoriented.
Thanks to everyone who has already sent us gifts! Everyone's support and happiness for us has been wonderful and made this an even more exciting time!

Yay! Congratulations to both of you :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, about a month ago your Facebook status said "Jennie is happy." And I had this little thought in my mind of "I wonder if that means she's pregnant..." Hooray!
